4 Benefits of Window Tinting

Check out these great reasons to consider window tinting.

  • UV Protection: Car tinting offers effective protection from harmful ultraviolet radiation, blocking up to 99 percent of the sun’s ray’s that could otherwise give you a sunburn, contribute to signs of aging, and potentially cause skin cancer.
  • Longevity of auto interior: Sun damage can also cause your car’s interiors, like the dashboard, to crack and fade.
  • Temperature control: Along with UV ray protection, San Diego window tinting in can keep the temperature down inside your car. The tint is designed to reflect heat and sunlight, reducing interior temperatures up to 60 percent and keeping down air conditioning costs. This also reduces glare for a safer, more comfortable driving experience.
  • Make valuables harder to see: In San Diego window tinting is a big help even when you’re not in your car. Tinted windows keep bystanders from peeking into your car and seeing valuables you might have left inside. The tint also adds extra resistance to shattering, discouraging break-ins and offering added protection in the event of an accident.

Window Tint FAQs

What should I use to clean my windows after I've had them tinted?

After window film installation, wait a week before cleaning the inside of the window where the film was installed. After a week, use a window cleaner without ammonia and a soft cloth or rubber squeegee. We recommend foam cleaners because they do not streak, and are usually ammonia-free. Never scrape the film with any type of blade or clean your tinted windows with anything abrasive, as it will scratch the film.

Can I roll my windows down right away after I've had film installed?

We recommend that you leave your vehicle windows rolled up for at least 24 hours after the window film installation. This allows the film to cure and adhere to the glass before the window is moved.

I just had my windows tinted, why do they look hazy?

The moisture that remains between the film and the glass after installation can cause a hazy, streaky, blotchy appearance. It takes several days for the adhesive/film to completely cure. The remaining moisture will evaporate through the film; depending on the type of film, this process may take a couple of days, or even a couple of months. When the water evaporates completely, your windows should have excellent clarity.

How long does it take to tint my vehicle?

The amount of time it would take to tint your vehicle depends on the vehicle type. A complete car can take anywhere from two to four hours. Full-sized trucks generally take about an hour or so. If you are interested in only tinting the two front doors, thirty to forty minutes is usually satisfactory. If your vehicle has old film that needs to be removed, this process adds about two to four additional hours to the film installation. These time estimates are for ideal situations; as with anything, things may happen that can extend window film installation time. Please keep this in mind when making your appointment.

Is the tint applied on the outside of my vehicle?

No. In most cases, window film is installed on the inside of the glass. This allows for maximum durability. On vehicles, the window tint is hand-cut on the outside of the glass, then installed on the interior of the glass.

What do the different levels of tint mean?

Film percentages stand for light transmission, or the amount of light that is allowed through the film. The lower the percentage, the darker the film.

What are the benefits of window tint?

The many benefits of window film include eye comfort, UV protection, aesthetics, and increased safety, privacy, and energy savings.

What is window tint?

See What Our Clients Are Saying About Their Window Tint

"This is my 3rd car these guys have done and I’m picky. There’s no need to look anywhere else for a body wrap, chrome delete, window tint, and caliper painting. They transformed my glossy black Model S, to this sexy matte black beauty. If you want quality guaranteed, Arturo & Theo always make it good.

I brought my Model X back after a couple of years because of wear & tear, they made it good at no charge. They are just good peeps who take pride in their work. You don’t get 400+ reviews at 5 stars if you’re not the real deal.”

"Monumental Workx is the only place I go to get tint installed on my vehicles. I bought my son a new Subaru BRZ took it up to Theo and Curtis who is always the man did the install, this is the 6th car I have taken here and the results are always the same very professional and no issues.

I got my first tint with them over 6 years ago and the tint on my car still looks the same as it did when they installed it. I live in Chula Vista but will always drive up to Miramar for car tinting needs. This work on my son's car was done 2/8/2029"

Christopher R., 2/16/2020

"Highly recommend Monumental Workx for tinting your car. I did a lot of research on the best tint on the market for heat resistance and Spectra Photosync was definitely what I wanted for my new Tesla M3.
...
Great customer service, quality of the tint they use and workmanship were top notch!”

Linda D. - 7/14/2019

"I recently had them do my window tint and chrome delete on my Tesla Model 3.

The guys were great at answering all my questions relating to tint film options and helping me out. The car turned out great! Looks much better, is cooler inside, and everything is of top-notch quality.

Would not hesitate going here again if I need to.”

"I hate being hot. Normally the solution is to turn on the AC to cool the car off. When the outside temp is 100F the inside of the car can get up to 140F. At these temps, the AC is going to take a lot of time to cool down the car. Window tint is a way to reduce the heat in the car. It's a numbers game. The more you spend on higher performance tint the more solar energy the tint rejects. The darker the tint within the tint line the more solar energy the tint rejects. I researched window tint on the internet and Photosync is the best at rejecting heat. Monumental Workx is the only authorized dealer in the city of San Diego.
...
With the AC on and all my windows tinted with Photosync, I don't feel hot anymore. Next time I get a new car Monumental Workx will again be one of the first places I drive to.”

"Awesome tint job on a difficult car! I had the windows tinted on my new Tesla Model 3 last week and they did a perfect job.
...
I was pleasantly surprised when the car was ready earlier than promised. The tint looks great and everyone in the shop was professional and friendly. The lounge is comfortable with AC and Direct TV I think and plenty of room to stretch out.”
