Paint protection film or ceramic coating?
This is the question we hear most. They solve different problems, which is why so many of our customers end up with both.
Paint protection film
Physical armor. Stops rock chips, road rash, door dings from edges and light scratches. Best on the front end of any car driven on the freeway.
Ceramic coating
Chemical protection. Blocks UV oxidation and etching, adds deep gloss and makes washing easy. Best over the whole car.
Both together
PPF on the impact zones, ceramic coating over everything, including the film. Maximum protection and the easiest car you will ever wash.

How a clear bra install works
From quote to cure, here is exactly what happens to your car.
Quote and inspection
Send the form or call for a number the same business day. We check paint condition and tell you honestly if anything needs correcting first.
Prep
Full hand wash, clay bar and decontamination so nothing gets trapped under the film.
Install
Film is computer-cut from vehicle-specific patterns, applied wet and heat-formed, with edges wrapped where possible. Partial front takes a day, full vehicle three to four.
Cure
The film reaches full strength in about 7 days. Skip pressure washers and automatic washes for that first week.

How much does paint protection film cost in San Diego?
Our starting prices are $600 for bumper, headlights and fog lights, $999 for partial hood and fenders, $1,899 for a full front end and $4,899 for full vehicle coverage. Bigger vehicles and exotics are quoted after we see them.
How long does STEK paint protection film last?
STEK DYNOshield carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, peeling and delamination, and real-world life in San Diego matches or beats that. After that it can be removed professionally without harming the paint.
Will PPF turn yellow?
Not STEK DYNOshield. The film is UV-stable and yellowing is covered by the warranty. Cheap films are the ones that yellow and crack.
Can you see the film on the car?
On gloss paint it is close to invisible. On a full front install the film wraps the edges of the hood and fenders, so there is no line across the middle of the panel.
Does clear bra really stop rock chips?
Yes. The urethane absorbs the energy of the impact. The material was originally developed to protect helicopter rotor blades. It will not survive a deep gouge, but everyday gravel and debris stop at the film.
What does self-healing mean?
The top coat flows back into shape when it warms up, so light scratches and swirls disappear on their own. In San Diego, a few hours in the sun is usually enough.
Should I get PPF or ceramic coating?
PPF stops physical damage like chips and scratches. Ceramic coating protects against UV, etching and makes washing easy. Many customers get PPF on the front and ceramic coating over the whole car. See PPF vs ceramic coating.
How long does installation take?
A partial front is usually one day, a full front one to two days and a full vehicle three to four days.
Will the paint under the film fade differently?
No. The film is UV-stable, so the paint under it and the paint around it age at the same rate as long as the car is washed normally.
Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint?
Yes. Professionally removed film comes off without lifting factory paint. Here is why removal is a job for a shop.
Is paint protection film covered by insurance?
Some policies cover it and some do not. Check with your insurer before you book.
